I am always pleased to announce the Engineer of The Month; but this month’s winner is quite unique as it’s our newest engineer from Scotland… Willie Henny.
As a rule, new starters never win this award because it usually takes a few months to get up to speed with fixing pallet trucks, powered stackers, electric pallet trucks and completing thorough examinations. But our new Flying Scotsman Willie, aided by our new Business Development Manager Norie, has made history by winning Engineer of The Month after only being with the company for 6 weeks.
Well done Willie!
Hopefully the first of many awards.
We are pleased to announce, that after many years as our Service Engineer for Scotland, Norie Barr has taken on a new role as Business Development Manager for Scotland; working alongside our new service engineer Willie.
With so many years of experience in the manual handling equipment business, Norie’s knowledge is so extensive.
He will also pioneer our new training department for Scotland to ensure our customers are competent with regards to all training, LOLER/PUWER thorough examinations and general HSE requirements.

The Safe Handling of Goods and Manual Handling is such an essential part of Warehousing, Logistics and Production Lines it is so important to ensure companies provide the correct Materials Handling Equipment Training in order to reduce accidents and workplace injuries whilst maintaining productivity and efficiency.
With so many products on the market it can be difficult to decide what type of Powered or Electric Pallet Truck you need or which Powered Stacker has the capacity or correct Lift Height required to ensure all the customer needs are met as well as improving the Safe Handling of Goods and Manual Handling.
On production and assembly lines Lift Tables, Highlifters and Work Positioners tend to be the favoured types of Materials Handling Equipment unless closed pallets are used then you need Straddle Stackers or Floor Mounted Scissor Lifts.
With all the factors in mind Nationwide Handling always encourage a site visit or equipment demonstration before purchasing these types of Materials Handling Equipment or Warehouse products.
To arrange a free site visit or demonstration please email firstname.lastname@example.org
Or call 01462 659180 and speak to Dave who will be happy to help.
It’s been another busy month here at Nationwide Handling especially as our engineers have been enjoying the hot summer on their holiday leave.
Our Engineer of the Month is Max London! He has been on the field fixing Hand Pallet Trucks, Powered Pallet Trucks, Lift Tables and other Materials Handling Equipment.
Congratulations Max and keep up the good work!
As callout emergency repairs can prove to be very costly preventive maintenance and regular servicing of your Powered Pallet Trucks, Semi Electric and Powered Stackers as well as most Materials Handling Equipment is always a better option because it prolongs the life of the equipment and the machine will run more efficiently plus more importantly ensures the company is legally compliant and is safe for the operator to use.
“But when should it be serviced?” I hear you ask – as a rule at least once a year depending on application, twice in a year if it is used a lot or the working environment is harsh. This leads me to another phrase I regularly hear “Oh my insurance company looks after the truck.” Unless things have rapidly changed over my 30 years in the business and I missed it! no insurance company to my knowledge services or maintains Materials Handling Equipment, they may inspect the equipment to ensure it’s safe to use or even provide a LOLER certificate and Thorough Examination but no regular maintenance or servicing.
Here at Nationwide Handling we can provide a service and maintenance plan and certification of Thorough Examinations or LOLERs for all types of Materials handling Equipment including Powered, Electric Stackers, Electric Pallet Trucks plus Lift tables, High Lifters and Manual Pallet Trucks.
To arrange a site visit or discuss please call 01462 659180
Or email us at email@example.com
When was the last time you had it serviced? To comply with legislation, it should be serviced at least once a year.
For more information on LOLER and PUWER, please email us on
or call us on 01462 659180
With workplace safety being at the forefront of every business or at least it should be, lift truck safety still has a few grey areas.
Is the equipment covered under LOLER or PUWER? How often should a Powered Pallet Truck or Electric Stacker be serviced or inspected are some of the questions that spring to mind?
This is why at Nationwide Handling we choose to use the CFTS Thorough Examinations Scheme which covers both LOLER and PUWER plus also incorporates the Safe Use of Equipment at Work Act introduced by the HSE.
A Thorough Examination of any Lift Truck or Materials Handling Equipment does as it suggests and is a complete inspection of the machine to ensure it operates correctly and is safe to use.
However, please note this is not a service or routine maintenance just a safety inspection similar to a vehicle MOT.
To find out more or book a Thorough Examination,
Please contact our Service Department on 01462 659180
Or Email our them on firstname.lastname@example.org
This month has been another busy month here at Nationwide Handling. Our Engineers have not only been busy with fixing Powered Pallet Trucks, Hand Pallet Trucks, Stackers and Lift Tables. They have also been doing Thorough Examinations for all types of Materials Handling Equipment as well. But this month, the Engineer of the Month is Craig.
With so many Powered and Electric Pallet Trucks on the market finding the correct model for the job in hand can be quite a test for the customer. Plus, now with the introduction of lithium-ion batteries
could our old lead acid and mono block Powered Pallet Trucks be a thing of a past?
The benefits of the new battery technology Electric Pallet Trucks are they are much cleaner, easier and quicker to charge and more environmentally friendly which is a huge plus as many countries and companies alike seek to achieve a greener working environment.
So back to the first question – Is which model is the one for us? I find it’s best resolved by a site visit and demo or a trial machine being used at the customers’ site to ensure the right equipment is supplied to the customer.
To find out more about our range of Powered and Electric Pallet Trucks or to arrange a site visit. Please contact us on 01462 659180

Nationwide Handling Ltd are supporting the National Forklift Safety Day to improve the safe operation of Materials Handling Equipment. Everyone hears about life changing incidences every year regarding Forklifts, despite the growing numbers of forklifts in England. These incidents can result in serious injuries or worse- death due to bad practise to follow Health and Safety.

Customers are often surprised that trucks in certain applications require a more frequent examination schedule. While increasing the regularity of Thorough Examinations may potentially seem like an imposition on customers and they may be hesitant, it’s vitally important to keep to TE best practice timescales to ensure the truck is safe to use.
Well done to all engineers and admin staff, April was a busy month with a hectic workload to contend with and less days to work with because of the Easter break – mind you the time off was welcomed.
The Service, Repair and Thorough Examinations on Powered Stackers, Electric Pallet Trucks, Lift Tables and other general Materials Handling Equipment has been at its highest levels and everyone has worked extremely hard but the overall winner for April Employee of the Month is Max London.
Well Done Max and big thanks for all the hard work.
With so many Electric Stackers & Powered Pallet Trucks going out this month EP and Logitrans should be happy with our sales figures and the Lift-It sales haven’t been too shabby either.
Big thanks to all involved in getting these machines out on time – it hasn’t been easy with a very hectic work load and bank holidays to contend with. For all our range of trucks please check out our online shop by clicking the link below:
March’s Employee of the Month is Mark. He has been with Nationwide Handling for a while now and has great experience in the repair of Pallet Trucks, Electric and Powered Pallet Trucks, Stackers, plus all the Logitrans, EP equipment and Lift-It range of products.
His customers are always pleased to see him and the level of service he provides is second to none.
Well done Mark!
Last month I mentioned the humble Hand Pallet Truck which got me thinking about how versatile this piece of equipment is and how much research and development has gone into this piece of equipment over the years in order to suit the many applications it is used for and meet the ever evolving Materials Handling Equipment requirements.
These thoughts were prompted by all the different types of Manual Pallet Trucks which have gone out this week.
Listed below are but a few of the different types of Hand Pallet Trucks available:

February has been a hectic time at Nationwide Handling with all the new equipment to process as well as the Thorough Examinations to complete on hired Powered Stackers and Electric Pallet Trucks, plus all the regular main work and call out repairs has meant our engineers have been flat out.
This month’s winner has been with us a few years now and is very experienced in the service and repair on Materials Handling Equipment especially our main brands of EP, Logitrans and Lift-It.
This award is not presented merely on the quantity or quality of work produced but also for helping customers solve their Materials Handling Equipment issues, being a team player and generally going the extra mile to achieve the highest level of service.
The February Engineer of the month is Craig Razel.
Congratulations Craig and keep up the good work!

Further to the SHD article in December 2018, we are also concerned about the shortage of fully skilled Materials Handling Equipment Engineers and the difficulty in recruiting new blood as well as the general skills shortage within the industry.
Also dare I use the word BREXIT when that happens, it could get even worse should border restrictions compound the issue by not allowing the free movement of people.
As a major service provider for many blue chip companies for the service, maintenance and repair of Hand Pallet Trucks, Powered Pallet Trucks, Manual and Electrical Stackers plus principle dealers to EP Products, Logitrans and Lift-It brands our field service engineers are the forefront of what we do and a necessity to what we do.
However, as stated in the article it’s not all doom and gloom because there are record numbers of apprentices joining the B-TEC engineering courses as well as training and apprenticeship course being provided by manufacturers and associated companies.
For those of you that missed their birthday in October last year, LOLER and PUWER are 20 years old.
I know it doesn’t seem that long but time flies in the Materials Handling Equipment business.
As a CFTS member for many years we can offer a Thorough Examination on a High Lifter, Pallet Truck, Lift Table or other Larger Equipment such as Manual and Powered Stackers plus Fork Lift Trucks.
If you need further details, please contact our Service Department on 01462 659180

With injuries and even fatalities occurring every year in the Logistics industry, it has never been more important for businesses to cover themselves in case accidents happen. Thorough Examinations is one thing every business using Manual Handling Equipment should have arranged.
Thorough Examination is a legal requirement under two different acts LOLER 98 (Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations 1998) which covers lifting components and PUWER 98 (Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998) which deals with all other safety-related items, such as brakes, steering and tyres.
A Thorough Examination must be carried out at least every 12 months. Depending on the application, the intensity of use and the nature of any attachments, the regulations may require this interval to be reduced to 6 or even 4 months. The person carrying out the Thorough Examination will be able to determine the appropriate interval. The same person should also be consulted for advice on whether planned changes to the truck’s operation or configuration will alter this interval.
For any additional details or to book in your Thorough Examinations today, please do not hesitate to contact us on

2017 was a very busy year for the Nationwide Handling service engineers with so many Powered Pallet Trucks repaired, Tilt trucks serviced and Thorough Examinations being completed on Hand Pallet Trucks, they were definitely ready for a Christmas break. All the engineers have worked extremely hard but there can only be one “Engineer of the Year”
So congratulations to MAX LONDON! You are awarded our Nationwide Handling Engineer of the Year for 2017.
Whilst Christmas is nearly upon us the Nationwide Handling engineers have been extremely busy completing our customers’ Thorough Examinations of the various models of Powered Stackers, Electric Pallet Trucks and general Materials Handling Equipment as well as dealing with the scheduled services of all our EP Powered Pallet Trucks and Logitrans Stackers and High Lifters.
So I want to say a big Thank You to all our engineers and admin staff in working together to make this happen and a special thank you to our December engineer of the month- Mark Scott.
Our engineers have been very busy this quarter repairing and maintaining pallet trucks, stackers, tilt trucks and other general materials handling equipment whilst also completing LOLER and Thorough Examinations.
Mark was our Engineer for September, he has put in a real hard working shift to ensure all our customers’ materials handling equipment have been serviced, repaired and maintained on time. Mark has done all of this with the quality, workmanship and level of service that Nationwide Handling customers expect and receive. Congratulations Mark!
Nationwide Handling’s October Engineer of the month was Norie Barr. He has been a busy man this month servicing pallet trucks, powered stackers and many types of the different material handling equipment. Based in Scotland Norie is a big hit with both his Nationwide customers. Well done Norie!
As 2017 nears its end, Nationwide Handling Engineers are at their busiest with so many pallet trucks to service, powered stackers to repair and electric pallet trucks to maintain. As summer is nearly over or did it actually arrive! the Nationwide Handling team are still ever busy and have reached the million pound turnover mark so well done to everyone at Nationwide Handling.
Back to our Engineer of Month – this gives me great pleasure to announce because it is our newest and first apprentice engineer, Chris Markall, that has won this month which is a huge achievement. Nearly two years ago, Chris started as our first trainee Service Engineer fixing Sack Trucks and Servicing Pallet Trucks then progressing to the repair of Semi Powered Pallet Trucks and Electric Stackers plus the Lift Tables and Highlifters and other Materials Handling Equipment and Associated Warehouse Equipment.
Well Done Chris!
Hope this is the first of many achievements.
July at Nationwide Handling has been extremely busy with all the field service engineers activity attending the Pallet Trucks and Powered Stackers breakdowns as well as booking in the scheduled services and Thorough Examinations for all the Lift Tables, High Lifters and various Materials Handling Equipment.
Again as it was in June, this has been a close call with all the engineers producing great work and response times but as there can be only one winner Craig is the July Engineer of the Month.
WELL DONE CRAIG!
We are still busy both out in the field and in the office hence our belated June Engineer of the Month.
It has been a difficult choice this month, as the workshop have sent out many Pallet Trucks, High Lifters as well as Powered Pallet Trucks and Electric Stackers whilst the field service team have been out and about completing Thorough Examinations plus LOLER and PUWER Inspections on the various EP/Logitrans Powered Stackers, Electric Pallet Trucks and various Materials Handling Equipment across the country. However, there can only be one winner, we are pleased to announce that Norie Barr, our engineer based in Scotland is June’s engineer of the month. Norie is always busy because when he is not repairing pallet trucks or servicing Logitrans, Lift-It or EP Materials Handling Equipment he has his own radio show on Irvine Beat FM and has started charity work for Men United and is in training for his 10k walk in September.
Keep up with the good work
Well Done Norie!

Our hearts & Prays go out to all involved & affected Manchester A City United.
It’s always a great feeling to get positive feedback from customers after we have carried out work for them, and it certainly puts a smile on everyone’s faces here at Nationwide Handling.
Just last week we received some amazing feedback, so good that we thought we’d share it!
“Hello all, I just wanted to take the time to thank Denise and Max London (attending engineer) for the excellent customer service I received in regards to our pump truck servicing.
Denise got it all organised very swiftly and was a pleasure to speak to on the phone! Max arrived on the date Denise had set, he was knowledgeable, polite and his work was excellent!
They are a credit to Nationwide Handling and deserve to be employees of the month with bonuses and pay increases!!!”
Feedback is always appreciated, as it allows us to continually improve our service to our customers! This is also an opportunity to congratulate Denise and Max for their fantastic and continued efforts!
Well done to Denise and Max, keep up the good work!

Mad as a March Hare sums up how busy we have all been during this month with record sales of Logitrans, EP and Lift-It brands of Pallet Trucks and Powered Stackers, before we even start with the Service Department.
So with sales booming the workshop engineers have been busy assembling and completing Pre-Delivery Inspections for all the various Materials Handling Equipment, as well as the repairs to EP Powered Pallet Trucks, Logitrans Stackers and Stainless Pallet Trucks requiring workshop repairs- the winner for the March Engineer of the Month is Phil McGuire.
Well Done Phil, Keep Up The Good Work!
Now That Article 50 has finally been triggered what lies in store for both British and European business.
As a major importer of Pallet Trucks, EP Powered Pallet Trucks and Logitrans, High Lifters and Powered Stackers. The currency exchange rate for the euro and US dollars has been the main problem so far for most Materials Handling Equipment companies because our buying costs have now risen immensely, which in turn has a direct impact on any business that uses Pallet Trucks, Electric Stackers, FLT’s or any Materials Handling Equipment.
As a Nation that no longer manufactures any of these products the next hurdle for British Businesses could be Supply Chain or Logistics because without the right trade deals in place or the free movement across Europe, which we now have, How can we possibly trade effectively?

George Walker Transport the North’s Power House for transport & logistics takes delivery of 50+ J1 Powered Pallet Trucks to add to their delivery vehicles at their Leeds and Manchester depots. Peter Sewell from Walkers had a clear vision that by implementing the new design J1 Powered Pallet Trucks that not only could the company increase productivity but also reduce the risk of accidents & back stress related injuries, whilst upgrading the standards of manual handling and Health and Safety.
Walkers were not just looking for a supplier but a work partner who would advise on the correct size and specification of the machine and also provide after-sales service support, training plus planned maintenance.

The Logitrans LT-TE and LT-TES are tilt trucks designed to lift, tilt and transport boxes and crates. Tilt trucks are primarily used to give better access to the bottom of crates and can be found in a wide variety of applications and environments.
The design of the Logitilt is focused on the safety and ergonomic working conditions of the user. The Logitilt can tilt crates up to a 90º angle, meaning the user does not have to bend down to reach the bottom of the crate. This feature is important as manual lifting and repetitive strain injuries are common in warehouse environments and it can help to reduce them.
There are several other built in safety features such as the ergonomically correct handle which can be turned to the side and locked, ensuring the user has free access to the contents of the crate. Other features include built in foot protectors, parking brake, safety valve and emergency stop.

To all small & medium enterprises it looks like we have got another job to do .
As well as being unpaid tax & revenue collectors we now have to collect pension contributions on behalf of the government along with introducing a workplace pension scheme to our workforce.
I can still remember being a man in a van fixing a few pallet trucks & powered stackers, seems those days are long gone with so much legislation to adhere to.
Maybe some government officials would like to spend a week or two with some small & medium enterprises & see how many hats we already wear & the hours that we put in.
I think if we sold red tape….
“This time next year we’ll be millionaires Rodney!”

David Ellison the Chief Executive Fork Lift Truck Association makes some very valid points in his article about the risks of cutting back on servicing and maintenance of all types of lifting equipment.
His article raises a question about Thorough Examinations asking –
“Nobody ever checks the date of the Thorough Examination – do they?”
“Suppose one of your fork lift trucks hits a stanchion. The enforcing officer will ask to see Reports of Thorough Examination for the truck involved – as well as all of your other trucks.”
