A great month for Nationwide Handling Engineers who have worked really hard responding to our customer breakdowns on all types of equipment from a Powered Stacker to a Semi Electric Pallet Truck as well as keeping up to speed with the routine maintenance plans and Thorough Examinations.
We can only choose one winner despite everybody’s efforts throughout Nationwide Handling – our April engineer of the month is Max London.

With injuries and even fatalities occurring every year in the Logistics industry, it has never been more important for businesses to cover themselves in case accidents happen. Thorough Examinations is one thing every business using Manual Handling Equipment should have arranged.
Thorough Examination is a legal requirement under two different acts LOLER 98 (Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations 1998) which covers lifting components and PUWER 98 (Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998) which deals with all other safety-related items, such as brakes, steering and tyres.
A Thorough Examination must be carried out at least every 12 months. Depending on the application, the intensity of use and the nature of any attachments, the regulations may require this interval to be reduced to 6 or even 4 months. The person carrying out the Thorough Examination will be able to determine the appropriate interval. The same person should also be consulted for advice on whether planned changes to the truck’s operation or configuration will alter this interval.

2017 was a very busy year for the Nationwide Handling service engineers with so many Powered Pallet Trucks repaired, Tilt trucks serviced and Thorough Examinations being completed on Hand Pallet Trucks, they were definitely ready for a Christmas break. All the engineers have worked extremely hard but there can only be one “Engineer of the Year”
So congratulations to MAX LONDON! You are awarded our Nationwide Handling Engineer of the Year for 2017.

Mark was our Engineer for September, he has put in a real hard working shift to ensure all our customers’ materials handling equipment have been serviced, repaired and maintained on time. Back to our Engineer of Month – this gives me great pleasure to announce because it is our newest and first apprentice engineer, Chris Markall, that has won this month which is a huge achievement. Nearly two years ago, Chris started as our first trainee Service Engineer fixing Sack Trucks and Servicing Pallet Trucks then progressing to the repair of Semi Powered Pallet Trucks and Electric Stackers plus the Lift Tables and Highlifters and other Materials Handling Equipment and Associated Warehouse Equipment.
Well Done Chris!
Hope this is the first of many achievements.
July at Nationwide Handling has been extremely busy with all the field service engineers activity attending the Pallet Trucks and Powered Stackers breakdowns as well as booking in the scheduled services and Thorough Examinations for all the Lift Tables, High Lifters and various Materials Handling Equipment.
Again as it was in June, this has been a close call with all the engineers producing great work and response times but as there can be only one winner Craig is the July Engineer of the Month.
WELL DONE CRAIG!
We are still busy both out in the field and in the office hence our belated June Engineer of the Month.
It has been a difficult choice this month, as the workshop have sent out many Pallet Trucks, High Lifters as well as Powered Pallet Trucks and Electric Stackers whilst the field service team have been out and about completing Thorough Examinations plus LOLER and PUWER Inspections on the various EP/Logitrans Powered Stackers, Electric Pallet Trucks and various Materials Handling Equipment across the country. However, there can only be one winner, we are pleased to announce that Norie Barr, our engineer based in Scotland is June’s engineer of the month. Norie is always busy because when he is not repairing pallet trucks or servicing Logitrans, Lift-It or EP Materials Handling Equipment he has his own radio show on Irvine Beat FM and has started charity work for Men United and is in training for his 10k walk in September.
Keep up with the good work
Well Done Norie!

Our hearts & Prays go out to all involved & affected Manchester A City United.
It’s always a great feeling to get positive feedback from customers after we have carried out work for them, and it certainly puts a smile on everyone’s faces here at Nationwide Handling.
Just last week we received some amazing feedback, so good that we thought we’d share it!
“Hello all, I just wanted to take the time to thank Denise and Max London (attending engineer) for the excellent customer service I received in regards to our pump truck servicing.
Denise got it all organised very swiftly and was a pleasure to speak to on the phone! Max arrived on the date Denise had set, he was knowledgeable, polite and his work was excellent!
They are a credit to Nationwide Handling and deserve to be employees of the month with bonuses and pay increases!!!”
Feedback is always appreciated, as it allows us to continually improve our service to our customers! This is also an opportunity to congratulate Denise and Max for their fantastic and continued efforts!
Well done to Denise and Max, keep up the good work!

Mad as a March Hare sums up how busy we have all been during this month with record sales of Logitrans, EP and Lift-It brands of Pallet Trucks and Powered Stackers, before we even start with the Service Department.
So with sales booming the workshop engineers have been busy assembling and completing Pre-Delivery Inspections for all the various Materials Handling Equipment, as well as the repairs to EP Powered Pallet Trucks, Logitrans Stackers and Stainless Pallet Trucks requiring workshop repairs- the winner for the March Engineer of the Month is Phil McGuire.
Well Done Phil, Keep Up The Good Work!
Now That Article 50 has finally been triggered what lies in store for both British and European business.
As a major importer of Pallet Trucks, EP Powered Pallet Trucks and Logitrans, High Lifters and Powered Stackers. The currency exchange rate for the euro and US dollars has been the main problem so far for most Materials Handling Equipment companies because our buying costs have now risen immensely, which in turn has a direct impact on any business that uses Pallet Trucks, Electric Stackers, FLT’s or any Materials Handling Equipment.
As a Nation that no longer manufactures any of these products the next hurdle for British Businesses could be Supply Chain or Logistics because without the right trade deals in place or the free movement across Europe, which we now have, How can we possibly trade effectively?
Mark is our Nationwide Handling Engineer of the month. February has been a busy month for repairs of High Lifters, Tilt Trucks, Lift Tables, Powered Pallet Trucks and Electrical Stackers which has kept not only Mark, but all the engineers very busy all month ensuring these repairs are dealt with quickly and efficiently whilst still tending to our planned maintenance and service contracts.
Thanks for all your hard work and efforts.
Well done Mark – keep up the good work!
Well Done Briggs ! It’s always nice to see a fellow supplier of pallet trucks, powered stackers, electric pallet trucks and general materials handling equipment leading the way with a a fantastic donation of £93,000 to young people with cancer.
The money will help create specialist units within NHS Hospitals & provide expert support & nursing staff for patients & their families.
This is so important as the teenage cancer trust relies entirely on donations to fund its work.
The Nationwide Handling workshop has been frantically busy in the last quarter and everyone has worked immensely hard to ensure all the serviced pallet trucks, repaired manual stackers plus LOLER/PUWER Thorough Examinations have run smoothly and gone out on time. .
Despite the bad weather and high winds in Scotland, Norie has maintained a high level of service to our customers. With many pallet trucks, electric stackers, lift tables and scissor lifts to repair and maintain
Norie has still managed to arrive on site to tend to his customers’ requirements servicing their materials handling equipment. So congratulations to Norie who was the Engineer of the Month for November!
December is always a busy time for our engineers with so many pallet trucks, manual and powered stackers, lift tables and high lifters to service and repair. With a limited amount of time to complete all the services and breakdowns it can mean some early starts and late finishes for the
engineers. We are proud to announce that Phil McGuire was our December engineer of the month!
Finally, the January Engineer of the month is Max London. He has made a very good start to the year as he has worked extremely hard on maintaining high quality workmanship and keeping up our high level of service to our customers. Due to his attitude to working, Max has proven himself a very competent engineer and an essential part of Nationwide Handling field service force.
As the year is now well and truly on the way and the only memory of Christmas you have is a few pounds overweight and a large credit card bill but please do not neglect your lifting and handling equipment in 2017.

Remember a Pallet Truck serves you all year not just for Christmas.
George Walker Transport the North’s Power House for transport & logistics takes delivery of 50+ J1 Powered Pallet Trucks to add to their delivery vehicles at their Leeds and Manchester depots. Peter Sewell from Walkers had a clear vision that by implementing the new design J1 Powered Pallet Trucks that not only could the company increase productivity but also reduce the risk of accidents & back stress related injuries, whilst upgrading the standards of manual handling and Health and Safety.
Walkers were not just looking for a supplier but a work partner who would advise on the correct size and specification of the machine and also provide after-sales service support, training plus planned maintenance.
As a major supplier of Materials Handling Equipment & Specialists in both Manual Pallet Trucks and Powered Pallet Trucks, as well as Semi Electric Stackers, Powered Stackers from Lift-It, EP & Logitrans Nationwide Handling are both proud and privileged to supply the equipment & provide the planned maintenance & service support.
Always nice to see the Nationwide Handling Engineers at Henlow when they are not out and about servicing, repairing pallet trucks, powered stackers, electric pallet trucks, lift tables & high lifters. Plus with all the planned maintenance & Thorough Examinations on the EP and Logitrans Materials Handling Equipment range, we don’t often all get together.
As the year kicks on and spring is among us, the Nationwide Handling Engineers are still busy repairing pallet trucks, servicing the high-lifters & lift tables & keeping up with the Loler & Puwer Thorough Examinations on many types of materials handling equipment.
So with all this activity our Engineer of the Month is Phil McGuire
Well done Phil for all your effort & hard work
The Logitrans LT-TE and LT-TES are tilt trucks designed to lift, tilt and transport boxes and crates. Tilt trucks are primarily used to give better access to the bottom of crates and can be found in a wide variety of applications and environments.
The design of the Logitilt is focused on the safety and ergonomic working conditions of the user. The Logitilt can tilt crates up to a 90º angle, meaning the user does not have to bend down to reach the bottom of the crate. This feature is important as manual lifting and repetitive strain injuries are common in warehouse environments and it can help to reduce them.
There are several other built in safety features such as the ergonomically correct handle which can be turned to the side and locked, ensuring the user has free access to the contents of the crate. Other features include built in foot protectors, parking brake, safety valve and emergency stop.
For more information about the Logitilt or any other piece of materials handling equipment, check out the spec sheets available on our website – Logitrans LT-TE and LT-TES Tilt Trucks
To all small & medium enterprises it looks like we have got another job to do .
As well as being unpaid tax & revenue collectors we now have to collect pension contributions on behalf of the government along with introducing a workplace pension scheme to our workforce.
I can still remember being a man in a van fixing a few pallet trucks & powered stackers, seems those days are long gone with so much legislation to adhere to.
Maybe some government officials would like to spend a week or two with some small & medium enterprises & see how many hats we already wear & the hours that we put in.
I think if we sold red tape….
“This time next year we’ll be millionaires Rodney!”
Platform trolleys are one of the most commonly used pieces of materials handling equipment available. Their simple but effective design means they are used in almost every logistics or materials handling environment imaginable and remain one of the most popular pieces of equipment you can buy.

A big welcome to Charlie Monkhouse (no relation to Bob!) who is the newest member of our field service team.
As the pallet truck repairs began to rack up on the south coast & the service/maintenance of powered stackers, lift tables, high lifters & manual handling equipment become too many to cope with, we had to have an additional engineer to meet the demand.
Glad to have you on board Charlie
All the best from all at Nationwide Handling

David Ellison the Chief Executive Fork Lift Truck Association makes some very valid points in his article about the risks of cutting back on servicing and maintenance of all types of lifting equipment.
His article raises a question about Thorough Examinations asking –
“Nobody ever checks the date of the Thorough Examination – do they?”
“Suppose one of your fork lift trucks hits a stanchion. The enforcing officer will ask to see Reports of Thorough Examination for the truck involved – as well as all of your other trucks.”
Read the full article here – Don’t cut corners with Thorough Examinations and Plannned Maintenance
The consequences of cutting corners with the regular maintenance of your lifting equipment can be very serious indeed.
Health and Safety in the workplace should never be put at risk, the law is quite clear and it is the responsibility of the business owner to ensure his staff are never put at risk by operating poorly maintained equipment.
At Nationwide Handling we work with you to ensure Health and Safety does not become an issue for your lifting equipment, we can help with
With the 1st quarter of the year now over our field engineers have been busy with their scheduled service visits for Pallet Trucks, Powered Stackers, Lift Tables and High Lifters plus all the various Logitrans, Lift-It and EP Products.
With all the breakdowns, call-outs, LOLERs and Thorough Examinations our engineers have been kept on their toes and they have all worked extremely hard to tend to our customer’s needs. So with this in mind our March engineer of the month is Mark Scott.
